About

Current approaches to the social determinants of health typically emphasise unequal access to resources. Health researchers have paid less attention to the psychological consequences of such inequality, and how these psychological effects may themselves be significant determinants of health. This project seeks to provide rigorous evidence to guide practitioners and policymakers on how best to address factors such as discrimination and loneliness to improve mental health outcomes, using laboratory experiments, longitudinal cohort studies, and randomised controlled trials. This project will bridge the divide of basic and translational science to advance cutting edge psychological science and deliver novel interventions.
