About the study

This study focuses on the linguistic elements of QuEST, and aims to understand the experience of intercultural telehealth consultations when conducted in English through different delivery modes: audio and video. This study is one arm of the larger QuEST project.

This research will provide valuable insight into the way telehealth consultations are experienced by people who do not have English as a first language.

What does participation involve?

Around 10-20 participants whose first language is Arabic, Chinese or Indonesian, aged over 18 years are invited to participate

Patient participants will first complete questions about themselves (e.g., age, gender, country of birth). After this, we will book them into a role-play consultation.

The telehealth role-play consultations will take place in location of the participants choosing with a stable internet connection and/or phone reception. The patient participant will be asked to take part in two consultations, one by video and one by phone.

In each role-play consultation, patient participants will learn about a medication and discuss complexities and associated risks, together with a GP. Participation in the online role-play consultation will be recorded. At the end of the role-play consultation, patient participants will be asked to complete an online survey and participate in a short online interview.

Check the patient participant information sheet.
