About

This report reviews the unmet needs of adult Australians with chronic severe mental health conditions and the resources that would be required to meet the needs of every Australian with these debilitating conditions.

Taken together, our analysis of the magnitude of unmet need for Australians with chronic severe mental health conditions, as well as the cost of meeting all need, is approximately $6.5 billion annually. It is likely to generate an additional economic benefit of $1.5 billion in real terms annually and reduce other costs to the community of close to $2 billion annually.
