About the Registry
The registry collects data on ketamine and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP) treatment for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It also supports retrospective research on safety and outcomes to ensure effective treatment. Participation involves sharing personal and medical information.

There is emerging evidence supporting the therapeutic value of ketamine therapy and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP) in several mental health conditions. These treatments are now being increasingly used in clinical practice, including psilocybin- based PAP for TRD and MDMA-based PAP for PTSD. However, we still do not fully understand the efficacy and safety of these therapies, especially when provided more widely outside of clinical trials. Therefore, it is essential to gather systematic safety and outcome information.

Participation in the registry involves the collection of personal and medical information about the mental health history of individual participants and their treatment with ketamine or PAP, from the perspective of both clinicians (including authorised prescribers and psychotherapists) and patients. Participation is completely voluntary and is completely online via a secure database.

This registry will allow the conduct of retrospective research studies on the safety and outcomes of these novel treatments. These future studies will involve analyses of the registry-recorded data to promote safe and effective treatment options for individuals with these conditions.

This registry will also allow investigations into the efficacy for specific populations. For example, with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) supporting veterans’ access to PAP therapy forPTSD, we encourage veterans commencing this treatment to participate in the registry. This will add to the growing research to help support Veterans dealing with PTSD in addition to improving PTSD treatment overall.

A sub-study is also underway examining the cost-effectiveness of PAP for patients utilising the registry for data collection for selected participants. This study is sponsored by Medibank Private.
