Louise Stone is a GP and medical educator with a clinical, teaching, research and policy interest in mental health. She has provided mental health courses across Australia, face to face and online and is keen to explore methods of developing effective communities of practice without the tyranny of distance.

Louise has been a Senior Medical Advisor for the Australian GP Training program from 2007-2017 and in that role, she managed the GP academic registrar program as well as other national policies around GP training. She has also had national roles in mental health standards and curriculum, research capacity development and ethics. Louise contributes to community education across a variety of media and practices as a GP clinician in Canberra, with advanced skills in complex mental health care.

She is a member of the ACT Medical Board, the Deputy Chair of the ACT Health ethics committee, and is a member of the GP Mental Health Standards Collaboration. She believes that a GP’s office should be a place of safety for all people, including doctors.
