About
A substantial number of patients present with cardiomyopathy (CMP), a decreased LVEF (<50%) and have underlying coronary artery disease without having prior myocardial infarction. Example patient groups are those with sarcoid CMP, alcohol induced CMP, diabetes, hypertension, and smokers. We do not have enough data on pathophysiological and clinical characteristics of arrhythmia in this subset of patients.
The foundation of this research is a systematic review of the current literature and a conclusive definition of arrhythmogenic substrates in patients with nonischaemic mixed CMP. This informs a risk stratification for Sudden Cardiac Death (SDC) and an evaluation of novel treatment strategies in mixed CMP. This research attempts to fill the knowledge gaps and further understanding of the characteristics of arrhythmia, treatment strategies, clinical outcomes, and prognosis.
