About
The Identity Panel Survey (IPS) is dedicated to exploring the wellbeing of Australians (at the time of the study) using a social identity approach. It aims to reach people all across Australia, inviting them to share their experiences about being part of various social groups, including community groups. The survey also gently asks about their attitudes and behaviours towards themselves and others, as well as their overall wellbeing. Participants will have the opportunity to complete follow-up surveys every 6 months, with the goal of collecting at least 10 waves of data. This process allows the IPS to follow Australians’ lives over time, seeing how significant life events influence their health, social connections, and attitudes. Ultimately, the study hopes to support the health and happiness of Australians by uncovering the social factors most closely linked to their wellbeing. This work is part of a broader research effort supported by an Australian Research Council Discovery Research Project (DP240100108).
This project has received ethics approval at the ANU, under the Protocol Number: 2025/0405.
This survey is ongoing, and we’ll update this page as new information comes in. Participants and interested academics may find further information through the links at the bottom of this page.
