About

The changing climate presents a significant threat to health risk factors and the capacity of healthcare providers to deliver quality and timely services. Mitigating the effects of climate change on health outcomes requires adaptation within the health system. Primary care providers are on the frontline in dealing with both direct and indirect health effects of climate change. Addressing climate-related impacts on population health necessitates climate resilient primary health care (PHC) systems, which will benefit socially vulnerable groups. Strengthening PHC requires the Indonesian Government to develop contextualised health adaptation plans and sustainable financing mechanisms. The project will provide a proof of concept on climate resilient PHC framework, including key financing strategies at district level in Indonesia, in collaboration with interdisciplinary researchers from Australia and Indonesia. The project will bring together a group of research and policy communities to identify solutions, developing models and designing implementation strategies to promote climate resilient primary health care in Indonesia and beyond.
