Overview

The 2019 Orientation Week activities will run from Monday 4 February – Friday 8 February. Attendance at Orientation Week is compulsory. Sessions on Thursday and Friday will include the beginning of your Year 1 Block 1 curriculum and it is imperative you attend as these sessions form the foundation blocks for the Medical Practical sessions to follow the following week.

Parking Information

There are many parking permit options available to you as an ANU student. Generally, students will apply for an on-campus annual parking permit. Full details can be found at ANU Parking Services. If you are living on campus, your accommodation provider may have other options available to you.

The ANU Medical School is located at 54 Mills Road, Acton. You can use the interactive online map to assist you in finding this building, as well as a guide to the rest of the amazing ANU campus. 

Screening and Vaccination Documentation

You would have received an email in December with instructions on how to upload your screening and vaccination documentation onto SONIA. SONIA is an online program that the ANU Medical School uses to monitor and record student’s screening and vaccination information and it also manages student’s clinical placements. All relevant documentation must be uploaded to SONIA prior to Monday 4 February. This will allow us to check your documentation before you arrive and notify you if you are missing anything. It is important to note that you will NOT be able to commence the academic year without completing the screening and vaccination requirements. 

ANU Student Card

On your first day you will be issued with your ANU Medical School student card. You do not need to go to Student Central to obtain your card before this date as we will conduct this process as a group. If you have a current ANU student card you will be issued with a new ‘Medical School’ card and your previous ANU ID card will be deactivated.

Social Events

Current students of the Medical School have arranged a variety of social events throughout Orientation Week. These events are not compulsory, however do provide a great opportunity to meet and greet your fellow peers from across different years.
