Speaker: Ms Nicola Palfrey, Director Australian Child & Adolescent Trauma, Loss & Grief Network, ANU Medical School
Nicola Palfrey lead the development of the Emerging Minds Community Trauma Toolkit, a resource supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children before, during and after significant events such as bushfires, floods or acts of terrorism. This 18 month project involved evidence reviews, consultation, needs assessment and product development and resulted in over 200 individual resources for six different audiences; parents/carers, GPs, Allied Health Professionals, First Responders, Educators and Community Leaders. The Toolkit has been utilised and endorsed across the country and has won a National Significance Award. Nicola will cover the process of conducting such a project (with less than 2 staff allocated), the highlights, challenges, lessons and key messages.
